Moxibustion is the application of heat to various acupuncture points or areas of the body usually by the burning of a moxa stick. This penetrating heat is fantastic for cold conditions, to relax tight muscles and to tonify various acupuncture points. There are many forms of moxibustion traditionally using mugwort, however we tend to use smokeless moxa which has a similar heat profile but without the smoke.
Heat may also be applied using linaments or with the use of a special heat lamp which provides a deep therapeutic heat to muscular complaints.
This therapy is particularly useful in acute injury, digestive disorders and for gynecological complaints.
