Cupping is a tecnique that uses thick glass cups, placed on various parts of the body (usually the back and trunk). A vacuum is created using a flame and the resulting suction stimulates blood and fluids from deep within the muscles and tissues. This method is useful in resolving trauma and stagnation of blood that often leads to pain.
This technique can also be used to balance the acupuncture points along the spine. Sliding cupping has a similar effect to deep tissue massage. Temporary reddening of the tissue is common with this type of therapy.
